Throw a flipping fabulous party called Cupid's Revenge! Below is the invite I used:
Dearest ladies and gents,
You are cordially invited to the Cupid's Revenge party!
Essentially it is a night of a whole lot of lovin' for those of you who may be single on Valentine's Day (Monday 14th this year boys...a friendly reminder to keep you out of the dog house with your better half/potential love interests)
So instead of being SAD on Singles Awareness Day, we're gonna use the weekend prior to let loose our inner Beyonce and have some SERIOUS fun!
We will be utterly fabulous with sangria and choc dipped strawberries! There will also be an AWESOME game of Twister.
Also, you should bring a Valentines gift (under the price of $5 please) for a Secret Admirer lucky dip (al a Secret Santa) - you will pick the name out of a hat on arrival.
DRESS: To impress - black and/or red and/or pink please
BRING: Your gorgeous/handsome self, a Secret Admirer gift (under $5 - see instructions above), and a plate of munchies (Valentine's themed if you so desire), and
BYO please (sangria will no doubt be gone in 2 seconds)
Come solo or bring your single friends ;) No really....bring all your single mates - this night is going to get silly - so click away and invite them to this party!
Also, because I also love my loved up coupley friends...you are invited too...but no pet names allowed please :P
SINGLE LAAAAADIES (and fellas), we are gonna paint the town red after, so I hope you're single and ready to mingle (and if you're not...just act flipping fabulous anyway!).
all my love xxxx
I didn't have a whole heap of time on my hands but the menu was:
- Rose Sangria - throw in a bottle of rose wine, chopped pineapple, raspberries and strawberries and a cup or so of blackberry liqueur. Soak for 4 hours. Serve topped up with lemonade. Oh my goodness - lovely, AND potent by the end of the night (thanks to numerous bottles of Rose added).
- Low calorie Chocolate Heart Mudcake
- Low calorie cupcakes with red or chocolate icing - add decorations of icing hearts, conversation lollies, heart chocolates, heart or lip sprinkles (from woolies)
- Heart shaped fairy bread
- Conversation lollies
- Beetroot Dip (an amazing shade of pink!) with cut veges for dipping
- Watermelon cut into heart shapes (using a cookie cutter)
- Chocolate roses
- Peach jelly heart lollies
I decorated using things from a $2 store and what I had around the house.
- Red velvelt fabric for buffet table
- Feather bowers
- Ridiculous 'I love you' toys
- Hanging hearts
- Hanging tulle
- Candles
- Roses
It was a great night, and it was definitely something which renewed my faith in and love for the people I have around me. They're such a great bunch, and I don't know where I'd be without them!
As for the real Valentines day...I spent it pampering myself with a gym session and a lovely epsom salt bath with candles, music and a magazine :o).
